IMERYS Blackpool Pit

Approximately 2425m3 of slurry residue is produced weekly by Blackpool Pit China Clay Slurry Production. The residue is transferred to mica dam where it settles and the excess water is reused in the production process. The pipework supplied will be used to transport this residue to a new settlement area to allow future production at Blackpool Pit for the next 10 years.
The pipes supplied were an SDR9 rated pipe from Egeplast which at 225mm diameter is a much thicker pipe than normally used. This is because of the abrasive nature of clay slurry which causes pipes to wear quickly. The bends had to be designed and constructed in a way that would avoid slurry becoming trapped and causing a blockage.
Wembley Stadium

Westwood supplied all of the fabricated bends, tees and manifolds for the cold water supply for the new stadium. They also manufactured some of the large main feeder manifolds for the water tanks, to supply all of the toilet blocks, in polyethylene instead of the original idea of stainless steel. This meant the manifolds were much easier to handle due to the weight reduction in using plastic instead of steel.
