Chain Bar Project
CLIENT: YORKSHIRE WATER & BALFOUR BEATTY
The team at Westwood Pipelines were to install three 300m runs of 500mm Black SDR11 pipeline via horizontal drilling techniques. They were then individually slip lined with 1000m of 355mm SDR11 SLA Barrier Pipe.
The success of the project was in the partnership between Yorkshire Water, Balfour Beatty and Westwood Pipelines.
For the first time, our team used the Heat Shrink PE Sleeves over the Butt Fused joints in order for the individual 355mm slip line to be attached. This was a technique that was used following post wrapping and the reinstatement of the Aluminium protective layer, so that the 500mm pipe retained its protection during the process.
While training was both offered and conducted prior to the installation of the Heat Shrink Sleeves over the piping system, regular site visits were also made by a representative from Westwood Pipelines to ensure the project was proceeding as it should. Technical queries that arose between each party during the installation were answered in a timely fashion and with due care.
“Westwood were a great company to work with.”
